A source who was privy to the sitting but does not want his name in print disclosed that the lawmakers latest move was driven by the pressure from those who are allegedly pushing for the impeachment.
According to the source, President Goodluck Jonathan advised the lawmakers against the impeachment when he met with them last week but maintained that some influential PDP stalwarts who are behind the impeachment plot are bent on going on with the process.
“The idea behind today’s sitting is to create an impression that the assembly ordered the Chief Judge to disband the panel and recall the report on expiry of the constitutional period allowed for the panel and go ahead with the impeachment."

When contacted, the SSA Public Affairs to Governor Almakura said:
“I want to tell you that these people are desperate to remove the
governor. The mace that was used today is not that of the State Assembly
but National Assembly”, he further alleged that members of the Assembly
have stopped using the President's name but are now dropping the names
of the Senate President and other members of the National Assembly from
North Central Zone.
On his part, Barr Mohammed Abdullahi, SA Special Duties to the Governor
when contacted said: " I doubt if the Senate President will condensent
so low to support the subversion of the Nig Constitution...If truly he
does, it's unfortunate!"
